AI and the future of work
How automation, generative AI and algorithmic management reshape jobs, skills, authority and inequality — starting with the workers who feel it first. Published in Sociology Lens, with a second study at revise-and-resubmit.

I study how AI and online platforms are changing work — and I build the software, too.
I'm a PhD researcher in Information Science & Technology at Syracuse University. Before research, I spent years as a full-stack developer with 100+ freelance builds on Fiverr and Upwork — so today I study the freelancers and platforms I used to work inside.
01 — Research interests
Four connected interests, one question: what happens to people when software and AI organize their work — and what should we build once we know? I study it with mixed methods, then write the tools the findings call for.
How automation, generative AI and algorithmic management reshape jobs, skills, authority and inequality — starting with the workers who feel it first. Published in Sociology Lens, with a second study at revise-and-resubmit.
How people actually work with AI agents, interfaces and online tools. At Syracuse I design interactive web tools and AI-supported learning resources for Gravity Spy, the citizen-science project that helps LIGO classify detector noise.
Platform work, gig work and the ratings, deadlines and algorithms that manage it. I study how digital labor markets move work across borders — and who carries the risk when they do.
My master's thesis follows Bangladeshi freelancers selling into global markets on Upwork and Fiverr — 24 in-depth interviews paired with secondary quantitative data. I was one of them first: 100+ client projects before the PhD.
02 — Publications & talks
Four peer-reviewed journal articles, a master's thesis in the FAU permanent collection, one revise-and-resubmit, and conference presentations — all since 2025.
03 — Experience
Every role below is tagged the way I'd tag a transcript. Pick a code to bring its passages forward.

Fiverr & Upwork · Remote · Top Rated, 100% Job Success
04 — Applied systems
Production systems, mostly Laravel and Vue on SQL — the same engineering I now point at research infrastructure.
A scraper web app that pulls, cleans and displays content against rules the user defines — the same pipeline I later reused for research data collection.
Synchronous text and voice for an insurance company's operations team, wired through the Twilio API and kept in sync across agents.
A multi-user CMS with drag-and-drop composition and role-based access control, so non-technical teams could publish without breaking each other's work.
A responsive single-page task tracker with live SQL-backed visualizations, built so a distributed team could see workload at a glance.
05 — Methods & stack
I do my own data collection and my own instrumentation. My research interests — AI and the future of work, human–computer interaction, digital labor and online freelancers — sit where these two columns overlap.
06 — Education, funding & recognition
FundingGraduate Research Assistantship, full support.
Working onGravity Spy — interactive web tools, AI-supported learning resources and trace data analysis for the citizen scientists behind LIGO.
